Social Society Events: Brand Identity & Website Design

The kind of project that reminds you why you do this work.

Some projects come along and they just click. The brand, the vision, the clients — everything aligns and the work flows in a way that feels less like work and more like building something you’re genuinely proud of. Social Society Events was one of those projects.

Leigha and Leah came to me with a dream and a business that was already beautiful in concept — a luxury dining experience and event company serving Ottawa and surrounding areas. What they needed was a visual identity and online presence that matched the level of experience they were creating for their clients. Something elevated, warm, and intentional. Something that made people feel the experience before they even picked up the phone.

That’s exactly what we built.

Social Society Events Ottawa Website Design

The Business

Social Society Events is an Ottawa-based luxury dining experience and event company founded by soul sisters and cousins by marriage, Leigha Holmes and Leah Finley. Together they create beautifully styled outdoor dining experiences, curated tablescapes, and full event styling for couples, families, and brands throughout Ottawa and the surrounding region.

Every event they design is custom — styled to the client’s theme, palette, and vision — and executed with the kind of care and attention to detail that makes people feel genuinely celebrated. From bridal showers to brand partnerships, Social Society brings an elevated, stress-free experience to every occasion.

This was their first website. They came to me with a vision and a growing business — no existing brand identity, no website, just a lot of heart and a very clear sense of what they wanted to create.

The Brand Identity

The first thing we needed to do was give Social Society a visual identity that felt as luxurious and intentional as the experiences they create.

“I loved working with Brittany to refresh my website. Her questionnaire process was so detailed and precise to capture the ‘feel’ of what I represent. I was overjoyed when I saw it all come together in a simple, clean and well written package! Brittany is quick to respond with support and working within the deadline. I highly recommend choosing her to refresh your website!” — Natalia McPhedran

Logo Design

The logo needed to feel elevated without being cold, and warm without being casual. The result is a mark that balances a refined script with clean typography — feminine and polished, but with enough structure to feel established and credible. We created a full logo suite including the primary logo, secondary variations, and a simplified mark for smaller applications like social media and stamps.

Colour Palette

The palette was one of my favourite parts of this project. We landed on a combination of warm sage green, deep forest, terracotta, and blush — earthy and organic, but rich enough to feel genuinely luxurious. These aren’t the colours of a generic events business. They’re the colours of a Sunday afternoon outdoor dining experience in a sun-drenched field. Intentional, warm, and completely on-brand.

Typography

For typography we paired Cormorant Garamond — a beautiful, high-contrast serif with a natural elegance — with Jost, a clean modern sans-serif that keeps everything readable and grounded. Together they create that editorial, luxury-lifestyle feel that suits the brand perfectly.

The Website

With the brand identity established, we moved into the website design. Social Society needed a site that could do several things at once — showcase their work beautifully, communicate their services clearly, build trust with potential clients, and make it easy for people to reach out and book.

The site was built on WordPress using the Avada theme — a platform that gives us the flexibility to create something that looks fully custom without the custom build price tag, and that Leigha and Leah can manage themselves going forward.

Ottawa Social Society Events Website Design

The Homepage

The homepage does what a good homepage should — it stops you in your tracks. A full-width hero with a bold editorial headline, warm overlaid imagery, and a clear call to action sets the tone immediately. From there the page flows through their core promise, signature experiences, a photo gallery, social proof, and a final booking CTA. Every section is designed to move someone from curious to convinced.

The Services Pages

Rather than cramming all three services onto one page, we built each service its own dedicated page — Luxury Dining Experience, Event Styling & Design, and Brand Partnerships. Each page opens with a full-width hero image unique to that service, followed by a detailed breakdown of what’s included, the packages available, and who it’s for. This gives each service the space it deserves and makes it far easier for the right client to self-identify quickly.

The About Page

The about page tells the story of how Social Society came to be, two soul sisters and cousins by marriage who turned a shared love of beautiful gatherings into something real. We gave each founder her own section with her role, her personality, and a personal detail that makes her feel human and approachable. The page closes with their mission statement and a clear CTA to book.

The Result

The finished website is exactly what Social Society needed to confidently launch their business — a polished, professional online presence that feels as elevated and intentional as the experiences they create.

But don’t take my word for it. Here’s what Leigha and Leah had to say:

“Britt created the most incredible branding and website for our business Social Society Events. From the colours to the font choices to the thoughtful way she helped us refine parts of our business, every detail was intentional and beautifully executed. We couldn’t have asked for anything more — it’s more stunning than we ever imagined. Her work gave our new business the polished, professional presence we needed to confidently level up.”

— Leigha & Leah, Social Society Events

What This Project Is a Reminder Of

Launching a business is vulnerable. You’re putting something you care deeply about out into the world and hoping it lands the way you imagined. A brand and website that truly reflect your vision — that feel like you — make that leap so much easier.

Leigha and Leah had something special before we started working together. What the brand and website did was give it a home worthy of what they’ve built.

If you’re launching a business or ready to level up your existing brand and website, I’d love to hear what you’re building.

FAQs

A branding and website design project typically includes logo design with variations, font selection, a custom colour palette, and a fully designed website. At The Cultivators, this means a complete brand identity package paired with a custom WordPress website built on Avada — designed specifically for the client’s business, audience, and goals. Every detail from the visual identity to the website copy structure is handled with intention.
The timeline for a brand and website project varies depending on the scope and complexity of the work. At The Cultivators, projects are handled one client at a time with no junior designers or hand-offs, which means the work is focused and efficient. Most brand and website projects are completed within a few weeks to a couple of months depending on content readiness and revision rounds.
The Cultivators builds custom websites on WordPress using the Avada theme. This approach gives clients a fully flexible, professionally designed website that looks completely custom — without the cost of a fully bespoke build. Clients also receive the ability to manage straightforward updates themselves after launch.
No — many clients come to The Cultivators without any existing branding. The brand identity including logo, colours, and fonts is developed first and then carried through into the website design so everything is cohesive and aligned from day one. This is how the Social Society Events project was approached — starting with the brand identity before building the website around it.
The Cultivators works primarily with service-based businesses and entrepreneurs who are serious about building a professional, polished online presence. Past clients include event companies, wellness practitioners, coaches, consultants, therapists, photographers, and creative entrepreneurs — based in Ottawa, across Canada, and internationally.
The investment for a brand and website design project varies depending on the scope of work, number of pages, and complexity of the design. The Cultivators works with service-based business owners who are ready to invest in a professional, strategic online presence. Absolutely — and it’s one of the best investments a new business can make. Having a professional brand identity and website in place before launch means you enter the market with credibility and confidence from day one. Social Society Events is a great example of this — their brand and website were built before launch, giving them a polished professional presence right from the start.
A logo design package at The Cultivators includes the primary logo, secondary logo variations, and a simplified mark for smaller applications such as social media profiles, watermarks, and branded materials. Font selection and a custom colour palette are also developed as part of the brand identity process so everything works together cohesively.
When your website and brand identity are designed together — using the same fonts, colours, logo, and visual language — the experience feels cohesive, professional, and trustworthy to potential clients. Mismatched branding and websites can make a business feel inconsistent or unestablished, even if the underlying service is exceptional. Designing both together, as was done for Social Society Events, ensures everything communicates the same message.
The process starts with a clarity phase — getting clear on where you are, where you’re headed, and what your website needs to do for your business. From there, strategy is mapped out including site structure and content direction, followed by the design and build phase, and finally launch. Every project is handled personally by Brittany — no junior designers, no hand-offs, no guessing. You can start the conversation at thecultivators.ca or book a free clarity call.
