Every Website Begins With a Story, This One Began With Relief

Natalia’s first inquiry arrived with both clarity and vulnerability. She had built her existing website herself… page by page, piece by piece… and it had carried her business as far as it could. But she had outgrown it, and she knew it.

Her message read:

“I created everything on my website myself. I have zero experience and learned as I went.
I am ready for an upgrade.
I am hosting a retreat next year and need help setting up a retreat section.
Can you help me with this?”

And then, a follow-up email:

“It’s a no-brainer for me. I’m really excited to hand this special project off to you to make it even better than I ever could. It means so much not to have to stress over something I am not skilled at.”

That’s the moment I knew what she really needed was more than a website.

She needed a designer who could hold her story with care.

This is the heart of my work at The Cultivators, transforming entrepreneurs’ stories into websites that feel deeply aligned, emotionally resonant, and strategically built to guide the right people in.

The Vision: A Website That Feels Like Her Studio

Natalia's Yoga Pavilion

Natalia teaches yoga differently.

Her classes are slow. Intentional. Sensory. Feminine.

Nothing rushed, nothing performative — a sanctuary for women in Ottawa and Greely.

She told me:

  • “I want people to feel calm just by looking at it.”
  • “I need flexibility to make changes myself.”
  • “I want my Retreat page to feel special.”
  • “My website doesn’t feel like me.”

This was the perfect fit for The Cultivated Website Experience, my signature story-first approach that elevates a brand with thoughtful strategy, intuitive UX, and design rooted in emotional clarity.

With my graphic design background, I translated her atmosphere — candlelight, softness, breath, spaciousness — into a digital experience that mirrors the feeling of stepping into her Pavilion.

My Role

As her brand & website designer, I blended:

  • Story-driven messaging
  • Full layout & UX strategy
  • SEO foundations for Ottawa + Greely searches
  • Front-end design & development
  • Custom retreat sales page design
  • Momence integration
  • A clean visual direction that feels deeply “Natalia”

At every stage, the design choices were guided by her values:

acceptance, acknowledgment, and compassion.

The Design Process, Where Strategy Meets Storytelling

Before designing, I guided Natalia through my signature questionnaire, a process crafted to uncover not just details, but essence.

She shared:

  • Her desire for a peaceful visual atmosphere
  • The multi-sensory nature of her classes
  • The intimacy of her teaching style
  • Her seasonal studio rhythm
  • Her philosophy of yoga being a “work in,” not a workout
  • Her dream of hosting a women’s retreat

This is where your typical “web design project” ends, but this is where mine begins.

From there, I structured each page around her story:

Home Page: Calming. Spacious. Intentional.

A narrative journey that gently guides visitors from curiosity → trust → booking.

Classes Page: Strategically organized for clarity, confidence, and SEO.

Women know exactly which class is right for them.

About Page: A beautifully crafted narrative that unpacks her philosophy, credentials, seasonal studio, and the heart behind her work.

Retreat Page: The most important piece — a conversion-focused, story-led funnel showcasing The Art of Becoming, complete with pricing, room types, booking steps, FAQs, and emotional storytelling.

Video Library: A simple, intuitive layout for purchasing or subscribing to online classes.

All wrapped in a cohesive brand experience using calm neutrals, warm textures, and understated elegance.

And Then the Moment Every Designer Loves… Results.

A few days after launching her new Retreat page, my phone lit up with a message from Natalia.

A text messaging saying the retreat sold out
“I loved working with Brittany to refresh my website. Her questionnaire process was so detailed and precise to capture the ‘feel’ of what I represent. I was overjoyed when I saw it all come together in a simple, clean and well written package! Brittany is quick to respond with support and working within the deadline. I highly recommend choosing her to refresh your website!” — Natalia McPhedran

“THE RETREAT SOLD OUT.”

This is the power of a website built with intentional story, strategic UX pathways, and clear messaging that speaks to the right women at the right time.
